Well...I've been wanting to get a new graphics card for my computer, nothing too expensive, but a good bang for your buck type deal. My computer is a Compaq EVO/ 2.4ghz/512mbDDR/PCI (not PCI-E). The current monitor input is integrated into the board, so on the first halo it looks atrocious. The only game I will most likely be playing is Halo. I also would like something I can hook up to my TV (I think it's RCA 36" 480i, pretty standard) so maybe something with an S-video output?

Visiontek Xtasy Radeon 9250 PCI or equalivent would work. I run 2 Video cards. This card runs 2 of my 4 monitors with no problems. Hope this helps

I'm guessing you have the 256mb version?

Don't know i this matters, but I have the factory cooling (fan) in my computer, any need to upgrade? I would like to stay under $50, and love ebay lol.

Well last night I threw an old ATI rage128-bit/ 16mb card in (wouldn't let me play halo with it lol) and it would overheat in about 15-20min. But this thing is old and has no fan of its own on the board.

Another quick q- would I benefit from a 512 over a 256, or would that be overkill considering my computer?

If I decide to hook my tv up to it, should I go with a 512 card, or will it make much difference?

my recommendations were under the assumptions that you were gonna hook up your T.V. You should be fine with the 256.. Wouldn't hurt to upgrade but I dont see a need in it.. Is your T.V. LCD, PLASMA, or Tube?

this is the 2nd time I had to type this lol

With car audio SQ is subjective. Well with Video cards, picture quality is also subective. My neighbor is running his 36" Toshiba (tube)off his computer and the picture is sub-par. I am running a 42" plasma off of mine and the PQ is great. As for gaming you will probably enjoy the graphics better from your monitor and leave the T.V. for media applications(movies-Vids, ect)
Note: sound will not be transferred thru s-video connection
feel free to check out my setup

It's not the best but it's mine lol!
let me know what you think.. L8r bro

That looks pretty cool, you got alot of stuff going on there.

I'm having a hard time finding a pci card, they all seem to be pci-e lol. I'm watching a few on ebay, but I'll definitely let you know what I get.
