When i start the computer the screen shows tha amount of ram in it and says that it is ok.....then it goes to a black screen and says Non-System disk or disk error, replace and strike and key when ready. Have Windows ME disk but doesnt read it. Sounds like it want to boot from floppy but i cant get into bios to change boot process(its like there is no bios on it). Can someone please help
Go to google, search "compaq drivers", go to HP's site, put in your model, download "Computer Setup for Portables" under "Software - System Management" and run it to put the files on a bootable floppy. I had to run the setup .exe from a flash drive because it wouldn't run on my C drive. This gets you into "BIOS" of sorts.
