I bought some 4Gamers (possibly SPC205) 5.1 speakers second hand, and I'm having trouble connecting them to my soundcard.

The speakers have a control box with three inputs (3.5mm and coax & optical digital). My soundcard (a Realtek model) has 5 seperate 3.5mm outputs (one being a mic in) but if I connect the main audio out to the 3.5mm jack (with a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable ) on the speakers only the front right speaker works.

Do I need a new soundcard with a digital out or just a different cable?

Sam, what does each jack/connection on the sound card say and what color and what symbol?
