hi i work as a security guard.. i don't have any thing to do on work. so i haave my laptop with me.. its wirless but there is no wireless availabe at work...
i tried to connect it using local area connection. its high speed lan internet.. its sending stuff on my local area connection but i am not recieving anything...
so i can't connect to internet...
does any one know how to change setting etc. so can it work with my laptop.. |

click START-connect to-all conections-rightclick lan-click properties-scroll down in the box to tcp/ip- click on that-should be set to obtain auto, the DNS too. |

i did that still no luck...
i think it is might be due to proxy setting...
danten do u know how to fix that. |

If u need a proxy... no.
I always have nothing checked on that whole screen.
U can also go start-run-type CMD-enter-type ipconfig/all
see what IP u are getting and gateway, DNS server
type ipconfig/renew to refresh it.
See if u can ping the gateway IP address. It will show that after ipconfig
If u can, try pinging www.yahoo.com,
if not try top ping 216.109.112.135
see if any has replies.
There may be easier ways to troubleshoot, but this is how I do it. |

start- run-type "cmd" hit enter
type "ping www.yahoo.com" hit enter
and type "ping 209.131.26.158" enter.this is yahoos IP address.
See if u get any replies from either.. |
