I am trying to download a file from my computer to a satellite receiver but getting error can't open serial port. I just bought this pentium 4 and it's giving hell problems. Please tell me how to open the serial port. Thanks in advance.

using db9 cable on com 1. Probably needs to be a null modem cable

what type of receiver is it? If your receiver accepts that type of tranmission you maaaaaay be able to use a RS232 cable also which a lot of consumer electronic devices use.

What type of file is it? and for what reason? I think we would need more info.
