Hi- I'm new at this and having trouble finding a sound card... I have a multi-track cassette deck that I want to connect to my music software (PC). So, I guess that means I need a souncard that has an RCA input, but it also has to be external (I think) because I use a laptop. Any ideas on this? I've been searching online and not having much luck. Thank you! |

Put "Digital Audio Workstation" in a search engine and go from there. |

Thanks~ I probably don't have too much money to invest in a whole new set up - since I already have recording software on my PC, is there any (fairly) cheap way to bring the 4-track recordings into my notebook PC software? Someone mentioned I may be able to use a DI box (which would probably require a series of adapters). Any thoughts on that? Or if there is an existing compatible external soundcard, that would be better.... Thank you! |

I feel your pain... Define "fairly cheap"...multi track audio is hard to edit on the cheap. You will need ASIO support with that sound card. Go here for more info http://www.soundblaster.com/resources/read.asp?articleid=53937&page=1&cat=0 |

Deb, You prob will need an audio interface that has RCA ins and outs. Be aware that not all will have those so you will have to research. Also, bringing the 4 tracks in should be fairly easy as long as you have the right software. Most allow importing tracks in as long as the formats are matching. Be sure that it IS an RCA connection. Audio interface's vary wildly in prices depending upon the number of ins & outs and capability. Here is a list to start with: http://www.cakewalk.com/Tips/audiohw.asp at least you can get the specs on some of the more popular cards and links to their sites. Hope that helps WavFile |

The sound blasters are the best value USB cards for recording casettes onto computer. This one would be probably the best: http://www.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=1&subcategory=207&product= 15911 |
