My laptop screen is on the fritz. It appears about 10 times darker than it should. In fact, I can't visualize the arrow or hardly see the document I am working with.

I put my battery operated alarm clock on top of it while it was closed. The screen got increasingly dark thereafter. However, I know that only CRT are effected by batteries?? Please help me out! What could be the cause? Is there some sort of external procedure I could do in order to reverse this? Degaussing if magnetization is the problem?

Thanks so much for any advice!!
