This 8x dvd+r record deck is running in XP W/intel 2.6 gb (close to that) processor with 512 ram. I've downloaded firmware updates. I have also installed Roxio 6.0, and Sonic MyDVD provided with the adaptec capture card.

It records fine, The problem is when I PLAY a DVD in the HP 400e deck, the picture on the computers monitor is choppy and the sound is "Pulsing and robot rat-a-tat metallic" so to speak. It will display beautiful still frames, but it looks like it's skipping every other second of the movie. Anybody know what the deal is here?

Most skipping, pausing, etc. problems are poor quality media.
