I need to convert an S-Video output of a laptop to a VGA signal so I can display it on a PC monitor. Can this be done with a conversion cable of some sort? |

I have roughly the same dilemma here. I want to convert a S-Video output to a VGA monitor so I can extend my desktop without having to buy a dual-monitor vid card. However, I have not been able to sucessfully find a CABLE that can do this. Does anyone know of one? |

UPDATE: I have recently learned that it is impossible to convert S-Video to VGA, at least in a cable. This is becuase there is less information in a S-Video output (in terms of pins) than a VGA requires. Its like turning 9 pins into 15; it's impossible. Hope this helps. |

You need a box, with a processor of some sort... Here's an example: http://www.buy.com/prod/GrandTec_Video_console_Video_to_VGA_Converter_SVideo_GVC _1000/q/loc/101/10402821.html |
