i have a P4 1.7ghz with an asus p4b-lx motherboard with 512mb memory. but the the memory that its haves it pc133. its not fast i was thinking on geting a new motherboard with pc2100 memory that like 266mhz memory buy i dont know if it will be the same are a little faster. |

The performance gain will be noticable. But since you are going to buy a new mother board then why not go for something that is like 400Mhz ? |

Lol. Ok, well you knew your rams specs, now i have to ask is do you know your bios. Default is 133-200 mhz on bios, could be anywhere between. Unless you know how to change your bios settings for ram, leave it. I really dont see why people trip so much about ram, it is important, but you could have a 300$ set of corsair ram, and still not have it make any noticable difference, Now if your running lets say a 3500+ 64 athalon yes, now then you would need good ram so it wouldnt bottleneck at the ram, but since you have a slow cpu, may i reccommend you look into an SATA Hard drive, or maybe a faster cpu or vid card. Without those core paryts it will be too slow |
