I have been doing alot of searching lately about installing a computer in my 02 Explorer. I think I am pretty set on the touch screen here http://www.mp3car.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=42&osCsid=5cdd3e0bfc734 10b6f61e8a7c9bc0a9e But as far as the actual computer I am quite torn. I have seen several different types of actual car pcs but they are usually sold as barebone systems that end up costing around $900USD. I guess my question is why couldn't you get an inexpensive Dell or Gateway or eMachines computer w/ a small tower and put it in your vehicle. If it is just a question of space I don't think it is worth the extra money. Any thoughts - please respond - thanks. One more thing - aside from a power inverter how would you go about powering the computer itself? |

Depends on what you want from it? Software - GPS, audio...? There are a lot of options on the web. Do you want it in the dashboard or under the seat?

I run a Amd fx-55 with 6800ultra video card in my blazer. 15 inch flatpanel mounted in the dash. (where glove box previouslt was. Works like a charm. Computer is fast as hell also. Laptops suck. You cant dismount the screen and its bulky. Put a tower in the back and run all the wires up front. (Foldable keyboards and wireless mice. Put sensor in dash |
