I have two huge 6 ohm speakers and I want to hook them up to my computer. The computers speakers are 10 ohm so if I hook the 6 ohm speakers up directly nothing happenes. I am wodering what kind of devise I need to make this work. |

The computer speakers probably have an amplifier built in to their "cabinet". To use your 6 ohm speakers you would need an amplifier to feed them from the computer sound card. To take advantage of their size - "huge" - you want a powerful amplifier and it would have to have an output impedance figure of 6 ohms. |

Thats pretty much what i say, ull need a separate amplifier. It depends entirely what output wattage ure speakers are to what amp u get, so check it out in detail otherwise ure 'huge' speakers just wont be worth their while. By the way what speakers are they? I might be able to help you out some more on this one... |

You may be able to riase the impedence by using whats called a "sandbar". |

Uh, right, Phil. There is no way to change ohm impedance of a speaker without taking the speaker apart and modifying it. You're probably getting no sound because you don't have enough power @ original poster. (As old as that post is)... |
