New or used.. if you have something lmk! Wife wants something compact.. but I'd like to get her something quality.

Also would prefer a rechargeable battery..

something like the Canon PowerShot SD1100 or similar.. any suggestions or just stick to that cam?

Go for the Canon! The SD series is pretty good by itself, in addition to it being a Canon.
