i got the red white and yellow things pluged into the vcr and when i turn the camera on i dont see anything on the tv... and i see something about pressing the av button on the vcr or remote but my remote or vcr dont have that button..

To record from miniDV to VHS tape, you need to make sure your VCR is set to record from Line1. Line1 is the set of video and audio inputs that the cable with the red-white-yellow plugs connects to.

You should be able to see what your VCR is recording on your TV, but this does depend on how your set up is like.
