Today was my day Charlie. Got burned a bit at the farmer's mart. Had fun and made some $$$ so it was worth it. Looking to do it again next weekend.

You guys will laugh. Where I'm at is so far away from any car audio hub that most ppl around here aren't into it that much. I took some of those amp wiring kits to see if it would sell. About 10 ppl asked about it and only one guy kinda knew what it was! Just about everyone thought the 1/0 gauge wire was some sort of bicycle cable lock lol! One lady asked if she could still use it to lock up her son's ten speed. I said "Suuuure, you just have to find a way to tie it." Another dude was handing money to me thinking the wire was some kind of advanced rope lighting!

Had fun and made some $$ anyways. Mostly sold my knives. It's sooo much easier than using Ebay.

I am sorry Paul, I have been to busy to even sit and think lately. I just hired another employee so I hope he picks up some of the slack around here lol. I have actually removed my sub and amp from my truck and am pretty happy with it out, not to mention the space I have back. Glad to hear you got your vacation time you needed Paul:-)

Back at ya lol! New job is going great. So much potential and the business plan is for the company to reach 4 billion in sales by 2010. I'm tickled pink to be working for a company with as many goals. I like just saying it lol. "I work for a 4 billion dollar a year company." It's got teeth.

Glad to see ya around.

I see Berny sparingly myself. He used to visit the off topic section and here quite often.

I don't see anyone keeping pace with you Chad lol. Admin should just hand you the keys and let you lock up every night and open up in the am lol. Car audio guys rule the roost on E, no doubt about it. Makes you wonder why the most frequented section of a forum gets pizzed on and crashed as often as it does. The sat section is 2nd and RARELY goes down. Hmmmmmmm

Looks like I'll be putting the Eclipse on Ebay. No real takers here. Shame. Oh well, life goes on.

Chad, not to sound funny but you deciding to go the SQ route is kinda like a man looking for a wife. You've played long enough in the field and now you're ready for the next level, so to speak lol. Have you ever thought of it? You are at the exact age I was when it happened to me. Just wondering.

good point. i still miss it though but i don't regret. my car thanks me everyday. lol.

this past week i listen to my box with the port and without. with the port it is alot louder but since the box was tuned low (28hz) the low end was really strong. it sounded good on some songs but on songs like trance and rock, the low end was too strong. so i decided to cut the port to tune a bit higher. now it is perfect. i guess my car accoustics don't like low tuning even though the soundsplinter recommends it.

i realize that rather than tuning your box to your sub recomendation, you have to play around with it to find the sweet spot for you car.

^^^Exactly why everyone bashes on new guys who buy prefab boxes. Once you find that perfect tuning for that perfect box you won't ever want to sell your car in fear of starting all over again lol.

damn !!! - 1\2 d yr is already gone !

well today i finally installed my 4 10s pioneer into a new 4" aeroports box i did - had it tuned about 36hz estimated & it shook everything around but bass wsnt sounding full up near so i took out each aeroport & trimmed off 1.5" form each port now d bass is sounding fuller @ any distance from d car - prolly tuned about 38hz

only got to play about 3 songs since it was getting dark here & i didnt wanna annoy any neighbours
went to a bud & only played another 3 songs b4 his not too healthy mom started to complain
....but tomorrow ima let it loose here in my shop ... Mahahahahhahahha ......

very nice rovin. it's fun to cut ports and stuff. :}

tuning is the most fun part of setting up the system. its amazing how a little shorter or longer ports just makes it different.

ya paul cud make a mint in his spare time if he puts his mind on making some aeroports

gr8 thing about aero ports is that its easy to just unscrew it ,remove d duct tape \ trim or lengthen within minutes & ur on again .........

Never thought of it. Never made a flared port b4. Don't know how easy/hard it would be. After the pipe is flared, how is it attached to the box? Just drill holes through the flared flange? Is the entire length flared slightly or just the end?

You guys have me thinking lol. Yeah I really don't get much use out of my lathe. Might look into it.

Lol. That's an inside diameter for the 4" pipe correct? I would think the tolerance should be as close as possible IMO. It might also have to be assembled from two seperate pieces before turning as well.

i think d hard thing would be making d part where d front flare & rear flare joins onto d pipe itself

paul u should go to a audio store & closely examine how 1 is made up

i think d simplest way to make 1 of these is to make a mold & iject d plastic into it - sorta like how they cast metal part

look @ how they cast stuff on that discovery channel show "how its made" .......

The best part about it is you're one of the coolest guys here. Some of the other top posters in other sections are just flat out cold hearted prícks who happen to know their stuff. It's not a good enviornment to learn in. I'm glad to see #1 status tagged to you. Just don't pull a Muddy.

I'll stick with my small 1000w Q lol.

thanks paul. i like to pass on the knowledge i obtained from guys like rovin, james longo, jonathan, glasswolf, etc... to others that might need it.

paul i am thinking of getting another rl-s 12. it will be for a hometheater setup. this sub sounds so good downlow when you tune it low that its not even funny. it truly is a hometheater sub. if i do get it, i'll put it in a 6 cuft tuned to like 25hz. only difficult thing would be to find an amp that will do 1500wrms at 3-4ohms. it would be expensive as hell.

bad news and good news guys.

the voice coil on my sub started to rub on the side causing it to smoke over the weekend. damn.

good news is i emailed mike and he got back to me asap. he told me to ship it and he will give me a new one right away.

another bad news. my first audiobahn sub that i sold to my friend 2 years ago is back in my car for now. since that sub can take 1200wrms and works well in a 3 cuft box i put it in for now. i need some kinda bass. lol.
