My new D80 seems to have a problem with autofocus when paired with a Nikon 50mm/1.8 lens. Somehow the focus seems to be a few inches behind where it should be. For instance, in a picture of my daugher, I put the small rectangle in the viewfinder on her eyes. But her eyes seem not to be sharp. However, if you look at her hair, it seems to be sharp in the middle of her head, perhaps two inches behind her eyes. Is there a problem with this lens or am I doing something wrong? The problems seems to be worse in bright light when the picture should be at its sharpest.
Picture shot with D80 camera in P mode with 1/400 sec exposure, F/2.5 apertures, ISO 100, AF-S mode, Multi-Pattern Metering Mode, Kenko UV filter on lens.

If it only happens with that particular lens, then more than likely it is a lens problem. You may also have back-focus issues. Take it to your nearest Nikon service center and have it checked.
