A Hi8 cannot read 8mm, a digital8 can read all 3 if it says so. Sony digital8 has an option on some called "reverse playback" which means they can read 8mm and Hi8. I don't think the brand of tape matters, if that's what you mean. If you do not have the camcorder yet, go to Sonystyle.com and check out their digital8 cameras. Hope this helps

I have a Digital8 DCR TRV350 Sony digital handyman and wanted to know if I could use it as a webcam on my PC computer and how do I go about making the connection?

In reference to my TRV350 webcam capability I want to add that I can use it via my USB port to down pictures and images; however, I have not discovered a way to use as a webcam, if possible, please advise.
