We are thinking of getting this camera for family trips. I like a camera that has attention to clarity and the pictures are clear and sharp. Does anyone have any info on this camera they want to share? Good or bad? Any info is greatly appreciated! |

not a bad camera. Easy to use and good picture quality, however, it will not be my first choice as a camera. It is a great consumer camera, though. I didn't like the proprietary memory stick, though. Make sure to get lots of extra batteries as it uses it up a lot. The rechargeable ones do not fare any better. |

Dear sir: I have a physical problem with the SONY CYBERSHOT P-92, the viewfinder (1.5" color LCD) is probably broken, so I would like to contact some Sony dealer (e-mails). I live in Cusco-Perú-South America. I also guess you are the one to tell me where and tell me about repairing cost. Please I appreciate your answer. Carlos |

My apologies, Carlos. But I know of no Sony repair centers in Peru. The best place to check is to contact the place where you purchased the camera. |

I have a Cybershot P92. The lens is extending out but it makes a clicking noise. Then it shuts itself off. I live near Detroit, Michigan. Does anyone have a clue of what the problem is and how to get it fixed? Thank you for your time. |

Sounds like the motor is on the fritz, and the camera senses a blockage on the front lens. Take it to your authorized Sony repair center. Check your warranty. |

I have a sony cyber-shot dsc-f707 camera. I reformatted the hard drive on my computer but lost the software to be able to download pics off my camera. Sony wants around $60 for a replacement disc and shipping. I am using windowes 98. I don't need to modify the pics, just transfer them. There has got to be a way to download something free to use, and have it today. Thanks for any help. |

ted, you can just take the memory stick out of the camera and transfer it directly to your computer. You really don't need the camera to transfer pictures to your pc. |

Get a new one, it will have better features and much better resolution at probably the same price you paid for the older one. The problem with digital cameras nowadays is that they become obsolete after 6 months. cheers |

I have a Sony Cyber shot 3.2 megapixels refurbished, and memory stick refurbished. The lens does not retract although it tries. I try to transfer my pictures to my computer and it says "Turn the power off and on again" I have done that but doesn't seem to help. I can still review my images. I don't see any way to transfer from the memory stick - how do i do that? |

snowquail, get a memory card reader. You hook this up to your computer and insert your memoy stick and it will transfer your images from the memory stick to the PC. |

My Cyber-shot DSC-P71 is approximately three years old. Suddenly, I am unable to take photos. When I press the button to take a photo, absolutely nothing happens. This happened after I was playing with menu options and attempting to add the date/time to the display. Does anybody know if I inadvertently locked the camera and, if so, how to unlock it? Thanks in advance -- Lori |

I have a two year old Sony DSC-P71 that we love. However, we let our sister-in-law borrow it and it came back with the lens cover and ring completely off the camera. I have tried to fix it and its too intricate for my large hands. The repair shop quotes us $200 for repair. Any other ideas? |

problem is I cant reformat the memory stick because of the C:13:01 error. I found this website here http://www.pechorin.com/m/2003/07/12/SONY_C1301_ERROR-202719-2.html and it suggested that i needed to use the end of a pencil eraser to clean off the gold contacts and then start the computer up in set up and format it then. well it restarted fine but i didnt reformat it then. Any suggestions to get it working again? |

I just bought a DSC-P73 camera and I am having problem transfering pictures to my computer. I am using Windows XP SP1. When I connect the camera to the USB port, I see in "My computer", "Sony Memory Stick". I am able to go in the folder and as soon as I see a picture, the window closes and it disconnects. I go back in "My computer" and I don't see the Memory stick anymore. Can somebody please help me! |

My CyberShot P-92 is dropping pictures. When I take pictures it erases pictures that we're previously stored on the memory stick. This has happened with 3 different memeory sticks. Anyone have any similar experiences or luck in recovering lost pictures from a memory stick? |

Have you actually compared a 35mm camera with this digital point and shoot? You'll be fine. Just bring plenty of back up batteries. |

Hi, Hope someone can help me out here. I did a lot of research on digital cameras and the SonyDSC P92 5 mp CyberShot got super reviews. However, I am not happy at all with the color quality of my snap shots, they are too orange. When I first got it a year ago it seemed like the pictures were really sharp and clear with true color but now, inside or out, the color is terrible. I took a picture of a chestnut horse, and he turned out the color of dark rust. I am the only person who has ever taken any pictures with it, but one time I asked someone to take pictures for me in Multi Burst and they were fidding around with the settings, however, never actually used it. Dont' know if that is when things changged or not. Why would my color be off so bad? |

Thanks so much for your fast reply, I will try that. When I went into camera settings, my camera was set to Program. Would this have had any effect on my color? (I have changed it to auto)The white balance settings were set to auto. Where would I set the WB when I am taking pictures indoors? I took pictures on Christmas Day inside and they were horrible also. I am also confused as to where to set the flash when I am taking pictures indoors. I just seem to remember my camera taking lots better pictures when I first got it than it does now. They are also coming out blurry when I take them indoors. |

When in program mode you have to specify the white balance on your camera. the auto feature does not work well on some situations. The white balance should be set to corespond with the type of lighting that is illuminating your subject. you should have settings for flourescent, incandesecnt, flash, cloudy, sunny and in the shade lighting. If you take pictures on full auto and not in program mode, it will take a lot of guesswork away. It is, however, beneficial for you to understand more about lighting situations and how your camera works undeer different circumstances. Experiment, read the manual, have fun! Oh and check to see if your camera has a reset button, to bring it back to factory default settings. |

OK, found those differents settings and did some practice shots in the house and they turned out a lot better, I adjusted the WB to take some outside, (it is dreary and cloudy here today) but the color is more true. Thanks so much for your help! I am learning a lot about my camera today!Took it off Auto and put it back on Program. One more question, what flash setting usually works the best when taking pictures in doors? |

i only know of one flash setting on digital point and shoot cameras...on or off. If it is on program mode you should have an indicator in the viewfinder that meters available light and it should tell you if you need a flash by displaying the lightning symbol. if you don't use the flash indoors and the indicator is flashing, the camera will adjust to a slower shutter speed and will cause blurring of pictures, unless the subject and camera are steady. Makes for a very dramatic and interesting effects, you should try it. |

actually, in my manual, there is a section on Selecting Flash mode, and the different settings are Auto, Forced Flash, Slow Synchro and No Flash. Also a section for Adjusting the Flash Level cn select high, normal or low). I guess I just need to play around with these settings and see what works. Thanks so much for your help today, I got some nice pictures this afternoon! |

I see what you mean by flash settings. Auto-means exactly that, the camera meters the available light and sets the amount of flash to illuminate the subject. Forced Flash - used when there are deep shadows on the subject that you want to fill in. Very useful when you are outside and the sun is behind your subject, use it to light the shadows on the front of your subject. Slow Synchro - used when you want to capture the ambient light behind the subject, e.g., night time on the streets and you want to show the neon lighting behind your subject. The flash level takes experience. A high setting will give you the maximum burst of the flash and highlights your subject very brightly. Normal will give you even exposures and almost flat picture. Low will give more depth and emotion as it doesn't completely light up the shadows. I think its time for you to get a Digital SLR |

I just purchased a new DSC P93 and I am having a very difficult time getting a true color. I have tried all of the white balance settings and still have a problem. The subject is one of my wife's paintings, so true color is mandatory. On atuo mode, the colors are too warm, greens become muddy. In any of the other modes that correct the green, the whites take on a bluish cast. Is this correctable? I had better results with Fuji color print film and an Epson scanner. |

Wes, you have to take into consideration the monitor you are using. Make sure that it is properly calibrated to coincide with the prints or results that you want. If you can, try to calibrate the white balance on your Sony by using a white or gray card. You should be able to know if this is possible by reading your manual. Also a good photo editing software is a must, i.e. Photoshop. You just can't do too much with a point and shoot camera. |

That is the conclusion that I had reached. The Cybershot was relatively cheap after buying a Vaio desktop with all the media bells and whistles. After some practice there, I think I will end up buying a Nikon D70 to go with my N70 and its lenses. Yeah, I know the focal length changes when used on the D70... |
