I have an NTSC Panasonic PV-GS150. My visiting in-laws from the UK brought with them a PAL Sony DCR-H32E.

I would like to use the two cameras, connected by a DV cable, to copy tapes. No need to convert the formats - that can be done on the PC - just copy the tapes themselves, in their original formats. I tried doing this with the Sony as the source and the Panasonic as the destination, but the copy ended up being unreadable in either camera's playback mode.

There are stores that will copy and convert tapes, but they charge $10 or more per tape and I'm hoping to avoid that. Is it possible?

You touched on something very important here Tyrone "NTSC and PAL". They are not compatible and conversion is necessary.
