How can I connect my Canon ES8400 to my PC? What cable do I need?

Find out first what kind of output your camera has and what kind of input your PC will take. Then you can determine what cable you need.

If the camcorder has DV output then your PC needs to have a firewire input (IEEE 1394).

USB will not work and will only cause you grief.

If the camcorder has no such output, then you have to use the analog output and you will need a video capture card for your PC.
