I bought this camcorder for around $300 about 3 years ago. It has always had problems with recording video. It will look fine while recording, but when you watch it there are lines going across the screen and it makes this beeping sound and the screen turns blue for a second. Just recently I noticed that while taking pictures the screen will be black with these white lines going across the screen and you can't make out the image. Now there is nothing but black screen while trying to record. (And yes, the lens cap was off) It still plays tapes and you can see the pictures on the screen fine. My warranty is up so is there anything I can do to fix this myself, or should I just buy a new one?

Have you tried cleaning the heads?
