I'm leaning more towards a Canon because I've always owned Canon's and I have an unfounded bias that they make better cameras... is this true? Or is the Sony a better piece of equipment? And aside from fewer megapixes, is the Powershot S1 any "worse" than these two? |

Stick with the Canon. Your bias is not unfounded, they have been making cameras for a lot longer than Sony. Sony is not a camera-centric company, if you want playstation or a television, then by all means get a Sony. They make feature rich cameras, but when the problems start, good luck dealing with any type of support.

Here is a comparison chart against the Canon's S1. http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canons2is/page4.asp Canon's image stabilization feature is a definite plus. |

Go with the Canon. The only Sony products I'm interested in any more is the Playstation & TVs. There is a reason Canon is one of the two 900-lb gorillas in the digital camera market. Don't get hung up on the megapixel count. Anything 3MP or over is fine for most users needs (i.e., 4x6 prints, web & email sharing). |
