hey i was wondering how exactly close-up attachments work...is it only to be used on small subjects or can it be used sort of as a teleconverter to increase your focal length for more distant subjects? |

It depends on the lens attachment. There are telephoto and wide angle attachments for most all P&S. I'm not sure what macro attachments would be available. They usually will tell you what they do. For examle, for my old Coolpix 995 I have the 0.63x wide angle--it reduces the internal lens by 0.63. There is also a 0.68x, 2.0x and 3.0x from Nikon and some 3rd party lenses up to 8x for that camera. For the 500d you might want to go by Adorama or B&H's website and see what they carry. |

and here is another one. http://www.camerahobby.com/Access-Canon500D.htm Personally I am not much into macro photography and only use teleconverters when necessary. |
