Berny, or Steve I've seen mirror lock-up on some cameras. What exactly is it for? |

For taking extra long exposures and to keep the pictures from blurring when taking said extra long exposures. When the mirror on a SLR goes up and donw to expose the scene to the sensor or film, it causes a vibration and translate to the final picture.

Yes, you can have the mirror lock up when cleaning the sensor. But in this case, Steve is probably refering to a mirror lock up or pre-release when taking extended long exposures. |

Oh, yes no pre-release for the D70, maybe the next fireware update will take care of that. Sorry didnt mean to be harsh. |

At 3 fps it is about 12 images. On RAW mode it is only 4. But if you are using normal jpg it can go up to 144 if you are using a fast card. Keith, I see you are reading the manual! Lots of info, whew! |

Nope, no cable release. You use a hand held remote ML-L3. You can get it for less than $20.

Yes you can. You can even control it by clicking the remote to open the shutter and then clicking it again to close it. |

I believe you can also use a programmable TV remote as your trigger. I have heard a few that tried it and apparently it works. There was a time when the ML-L3 remote was sooo hard to find. A lot of people were scrambling around for something else to use during the shortage. |
