well, the old system included a Mitsubishi WT-46809 46" WS RPTV, Onkyo TX-DS797 6.1 AV receiver, and Panasonic DVD-RP82 player, philips pronto tsu-2000 remote, and a non-HD Tivo. I'm updating the system with a new TV, BD player, Tivo, remote, receiver, and TV stand for use with HD content as follows: It was time to update my gear a little. TV/Monitor Panasonic TH-50PZ800U 50" VIERA® 1080p THX®-certified plasma HDTV AV Receiver Onkyo TX-NR906 (black) THX Ultra2Plus certified receiver DVD Sony BDP-S350 High Definition Blu-Ray DVD Player DBS HR22-165 DirecTV HD DVR Turntable Ion USB belt-drive turntable Tape deck Denon DR-M11 stereo cassette tape deck VCR Toshiba W808 6-head S-VHS LaserDisc Panasonic LX-H670 multi-laser disc player EQ Onkyo Integra EQ-35 Control Logitech Harmony 1000 Universal RF Advanced Remote Power APC Line-R 600VA Line Conditioner APC Back-UPS 600 UPS Speakers 2.0 audio critical listening: Martin-Logan Odyssey ESL panels, bi-amped 7.1 A/V mains KEF Reference Series 104/2 mains, bi-amped (type SP3128 matched pair, rosewood finish) center Pinnacle P-5.5 center-channel rear and surrounds KEF Reference Series TDM34DS dipole surrounds sub Energy e:XL-S12 powered subwoofer Furniture PolyCrystal isolation spikes 5-shelf hand-made maple A/V rack Bell'O gloss black metal and tempered glass plasma TV stand hand-made audio cables, 12AWG, banana connections thoughts? I don't want to go much over the budget I've set, so the upgrades are costing me about 5K. thanks |

also gave more thought to screen size, and chose to go with the 58" 800U. |

58". Nice. I see a lot of getting to be "old school" equipment there. Tape deck, vcr, turntable and laser disc player? You must have a good selection of media you don't want to part with. I know vinyl is hard to part with but cassettes? How's the quality holding up with them? My collection is about useless. Big boxes of 20 year old paperweights now lol. |

well, the S-VHS is handy once in a while when someone brings a video tape over.. and for converting things to DVD via the PC. The laserdisc and Denon tape deck I actually picked up at a Good Will.. for $20 and $5 respectively so I couldn't pass them up. The LDP is nice, with auto flip and so forth.. it was one of their last top end models before they stopped making them, and I have a bunch of old LDs that were never made into DVDs so its nice to have once in a while too. The turntable is a new one in fact, and has a USB output to connect to the PC for vinyl to CD conversion, which is it's main purpose.. and yes I have hndreds of pounds of vinyl, much of it older than I am, but a lot of it is worth some money so I hate to get rid of it, and some vinyl like Dave Brubeck, is still a treat to spin up from time to time. Mainly in the rack though, of those items, the only one connected is the turntable. the other stuff I can connect via front receiver jacks when I need them.. otherwise they are put away. I use them so rarely in all honesty. They are just nice to have. |

None yet. Haven't gotten all of the new bits in yet.. the pics I do have are of my older system with the RPTV in place. I'll get some posted when I get everything set up. |
