What is the best choice for connecting an amp to a subwoofer ? Will normal audio interconnects do ? Or should I look for special 'dedicated' subwoofer cables ?

I was running Paradigm PS1000 with a nice interconnect into a single plug (R or L, I'm not sure) into the back of my sub, but I bought a dedicated subwoofer interonnect (Monster Cable, 60.00) and a Y connector for both R and L...it made a HUGE difference
