I recently gave my parents a Toshiba 40" HDTV LCD. Hooked up the HDMI cable and just get picture and no sound. When I connect the cable company cables separately I get both sound and picture but not HD. It is an HD box. Am I using the wrong HDMI cable?? |

Unless you have a defective HDMI cable, it should carry the audio signal. My guess is that your problem is with the cable box - NOT the HDMI cable. I think there was a thread on this forum a while back about some cable boxes not sending sound to the HDMI port. I would call the cable company,} |

You have to turn on the HDMI audio from the cable box. Time warner has it under DEVICES, digital audio, Dolby digital-other-HDMI. |
