Hello, I am thinking of buying speakers to get surround sound with my digital cable box. I already have a receiver, I just don't know if my cable has surround capabilities... I have Rogers Digital Cable and a pic of the back is: I have a Yamaha RXV357 receiver and the back looks like:
The cable box has "digital audio output" but I'm not sure what cable I need...Is it a digital coaxial cable or digital optical cable. Thanks! :D |

Digital Coaxial from you cable box. Look at the Yamaha's Optical Inputs. If your cable box had an optical output it would look just like one of those. You should check to see if your cable provider has a box with an optical output they can upgrade you to. |

It looks like your cable box has a digital audio out connector. Its difficult tell from the picture but it looks like coax. If so, you need a cable like this http://www.findacable.com/servlet/the-349/12ft-VELOCITY%3F-DIGITAL-AUDIO/Detail I paid about $10 at Find A Cable |
