i just got a bunch of speaker wire from work for cheap. here's the stats on it according to label:
SPT-1 18(41B)/2
18AWG
voltage rating: 300
temp. rating: 105C

just wondering if this stuff is going to work for my stereo. i don;t need stellar performance, basically all i need to know is if this stuff is going to melt on me or if it totally sucks and should take it back

I think you would want a higher gauge. I currently have 14 and have been reading that 12 may be a better gauge. The higher the number (lower the gauge) the resistance (?) increases and distorts your highs. Don't quote me exactly, Im still learning. But I would recommend getting a higher gauge, 12-14 at least.
