So the only audio out my TV has is a SPDIF, yet the old receiver I have doesn't have any SPDIF ports, only standard red and white RCA ports, is there any converter/adapter I can use to connect these? Thanks for the help I really have no idea.

Unfortunately the converter is called a receiver. What you are basically trying to do is change the digital signal to analog so you can connect it to the "old receiver". What kind of receiver is it?

It is a Sony STR-D790, I do not know if that helps.
