So here's the deal. As for my equipment I have a Sony XBR HDTV. Giving all of the details isn't necessary I dont think. The TV has a digital coaxial out slot.

I'm plugging a few things into the tv. An HDTV cable box. A dvd/vcr combo player. An Xbox 360.

the 360 has an optical out which will go straight into my reciever (which i've been having problems with lately so if anybody has had trouble with the optical out on 360 b4 plz let me know too.)

After that I only have one digital input slot on my reciever (a coaxial). I want to have the TV running through the coaxial audio but perhaps even more importantly the dvd player running through that cable. my question is this....

If I run a cable from the CableBox>Dvd/Vcr>Tv, then run the coaxial audio out from the tv to my reciever, how much, if any sound quality will I lose. Will it still be in true Surround? Any help/suggestions are appreciated!

None, if the signal is digital.
