Im starting to revamp my home theator. My current setup is a 32" samsung crt tv. A prox 500watt sony reciever, all my spekaers are paradigm monitor series, a yamaha dvd3657, and of course a ps2 and a xbox, and a satellite reciever. I have a few other goodies (satellite radio, ipod), but I dont consider them part of my home teator, there just addons. Also, the ps2 and the xbox are never used, so they are add-ons that dont matter. What I want to know, is what kind of power protection do I need. I understand I should spend roughly $100cad on a powerbar that also conditions the power, that will fix any issues with "dirty" power, shorts, etc. However, what about a ups? If the power browns out (it does when the dehumdiifier kicks on), or when the power shuts off (lightning season), is that really a issue? Is a power bar enouygh? and if not, how much should I spend on ups and power bar(/conditioner)?

Go there and email Frank about your requirements.
$100 isn't much for conditioning and protection
so don't waste it on beautiful case's, light's
and meter's.
Buy a true protection device.
