My receiver does not have s-video connections and I would like to connect the tv and satellite to it. Should I bypass the video on the receiver and use a switch box or use the RCA connections?

How much differenet if I use the RCA versus the s-video.

If you really want to connect the video and audio into your receiver use the RCA. The S-video will give you a better picture than the RCA. S-video splits the video signal into two parts, one for color and one for brightness. With RCA all of the video information is passed through a single wire.
