I have three good quality composite cables. Is there any real reason I cannot use these three cables for a component hookup? A side by side comparison with a set of component cables shows no visible difference other than the color coding.

There is a minimal difference. Component wires may have slightly better shielding on them, but the difference is not very noticeable.
