I understand that DVI (Digital Video Interface) cable connections may be significantly supperior to other connections including progressive scan component connection. Does anyone have any hard evidence on this? I am looking at a serious upgrade of my total home theater system and I see that some of the new home theater equipment (HDTVs, DVDs, A/V amps, HDTV Receivers, etc.) now have DVI connections and claim that they are superior. Any comments?

I have a DVI input on my tv. DVI allows encrypted transmission of uncompressed HD content. DVI, I believe is geared to hd receivers and not essentially dvd. The electronics industry is still working toward a decision on one standard.
