We all know we can rip DVD movies and many amongst us gave up on doing that because it simply takes too long and needs too many settings which only half are understood by the general crowd to rip a DVD Movie to a Quality Video AVI, MP4, 3GP, DivX file etc.
These days however, more and more tools become available that automatically do everything for you at a speed never seen before. One of these tools comes from Xilisoft, the DVD Ripper Platinum which consists of the function of DVD Ripper and DVD Audio Ripper. As described, it can rip DVD to all popular videos and audios including DVD to video DivX, AVI, MPEG, WMV, RM, MOV, MP4, 3GP, and to audio MP3, WAV, WMA, AAC, AC3, M4A, OGG. No longer are you limited to watch DVD on TV, the movie and music is now available in your car, on your iPod, PSP, mobile phone, portable MP3 player and accompanies you now wherever you go.
The Installation is a breeze, if you can click with the mouse, you can install Xilisoft DVD Ripper Platinum in less than 30 seconds. After that, it¡¦s as simple as adding a Disc in your DVD Drive and use the options from Xilisoft to match your needs. Xilisoft allows the ripping to be started in as few as 3 steps.
First choose "Add DVD Folder" in the ¡§File¡¨ menu or simply click the DVD Icon on the interface to select the DVD Drive with the disc inside and off outside select which track you¡¦d like to convert.
Then you select a Profile (known as output formats) amongst the ones available which are DivX, AVI, MPEG, WMV, RM, MOV, MP4, 3GP, AAC, MP3, OGG, RA, AU, WAV or WMA etc ( so many which is dazzling ƒ¼) . Next you click RIP to save the Video and Audio files to your hard drive.
Reading the DVD is done fast and the interface allows ¡§playing¡¨ the movies with video on screen at bottom right. Strangely the sound produced is very distorted with 1 of the 8 soundcards we tried out which is the Creative sound Blaster live 24-bit, so I decided to reboot my PC which didn¡¦t help. I then started playing with the settings of my Sound card (Sound Blaster Live 24 bit) and it seemed the slider for Hardware Acceleration was the solution. (Go to Control Panel, Sounds and Audio Devices, on the Volume Control Tab select ¡§Advanced¡¨ and set the slider to the opposite side of where it is as default if it happens to you).
What you will experience during listening to the DVD Audio through Xilisoft is that when the program window looses focus (because you open your mailbox or want to start surfing), the sound is gone until you make the Xilisoft Program window active again.
We decided to set the program to rip a DVD of A MIDSUMMER NIGHTS¡¦ DREAM to MP4 playable on my iPod, and split the file each ten minutes while we keep working and surfing the Internet. After all, ripping should not render your PC useless or cause any distortion in the file that result out of Xilisoft. Good news after we are done, no distortion is noticeable and the Quality is very good.
Total ripping time for 2.24 hours DVD was about 1.5 hour time so it is fast on top of the Quality. With a little tuning of the program for your hardware (remember the sound card options) and selecting your preferred output type, you can rip many DVD¡¦s in a couple of hours and stach your results in your car, on your iPod, PSP, mobile phone, MP4 player, portable MP3 player etc.
More easy settings are available not discussed in this short article to allow you to explore what else is available in this great tool. I already ripped my entire collection last night (5 DVD¡¦s) to 700MB discs¡Kand today my Friend is wondering why I am red-eye but swollen-headed¡Kƒº eheh

i've once tried xilisoft audio converter for my ipod , it works just as well. it has an upgraded version which supports more formats |
