ok, i have a 15" mtx thunder 3000 (it was cheap). I dont know how many ohms it is (i dont know how to find out with a fluke meter). heres two possible links to my sub, is there an amp that could power either of these? http://www.mtxaudio.com/caraudio/archive/thunderSub3154.cfm http://www.mtxaudio.com/caraudio/archive/thunderSub3158.cfm i dont understand what to look at when i look for an amp. |

should i just get a 400 watt and 4 ohm amp? or would an 8 ohm sub be wasted with a 4 ohm amp? |

Well if its an 8 ohm sub your pretty much outta of luck since all 2 channel amps need to be ran at 4 ohms bridged or 2 ohm stereo bridged. If you happen to have the 8 ohm version you have two choices. Get another one to run at 4 ohms or get an amp that is about 500 watts at 4 ohm bridged which would give you 250 at 8 ohms. |
