what would be the drawbacks of only havin 8 ga ground with 4 ga power wire i need a quick response

it's an electrical circuit. 4ga power line is fine if it goes to a distribution block and the amp gets 8ga in and for ground.
remember a chain is only as strong as the weakest link.
