Hi, im totally oblivious about comps. I was wondering if you HAVE to buy anything like kickpanels or anything special to install or have component speakers in my/your car (95 Ford Taurus). I dont know a whole lot about comps and was wondering if you guys could fill me in on what exactly they are. I looked on other threads from previous months and i couldnt find anything. So what i am trying to ask is are they like regular speakers where you just can install them in your door where your stock speakers are? I know you have to mount the tweeters or whatever, but how do you do that? Do you need a kit or something? Thanks.

Installing the midrange portion of a component set is simply replacing the factory speaker. Although there will be a crossover "box" that splits the signal for the midrange driver and the tweeter.

The tweeter is mounted in a separate location (where exactly depends on which set you get) and usually requires a 1" hole saw to get a good flush mount. Depending on the mount type, you may use a 1" steel ring behind the hole to ensure a solid/tight fit.

That's about it.
