Okay, Im planning on setting up 3 subs.
When wiring it to a mono amp, I will be showing it a 2.67 ohm load (from Crutchfield).
Will all amps be able to put power into this load, or will it screw something up badly? Like many amps are rated X watts in 4 ohms, and then usually 2x into 2 ohms. Simple math can figure out what power it will put into 2.67 ohms, but I was wondering if any amp will do, or will I have to go with one that puts out a regulated power supply, like a JL? |

You will wan to run a Mono class D amp. Look for any amp that is 2 ohm stable and you will be fine. What subs are you gonna run and whats the rms wattage. |

Im going to be running 3 RE8's. They are 175 watts RMS. Thats 525 watts into 2.67, so will just need to get an mono amp that puts out 700 watts rms into 2 ohms , and is efficient, right?
700x2=1400 into 1 ohm
1400/2.67= 524 watts rms into 2.67 ohms.
this is correct? |

NO.
You have to make sure the amp is 1 ohm stable first. Not all amps are 1 ohm stable. For your setup you need to look at the jbl 600.1. 600 rms at 2 ohms and at 4 ohms 300 rms. So at 3 ohms you would get roughly 450 rms. So at 2.67 you shoudl get around 500 rms or so and that will be perfect for your subs. |
