I have a PPI PCX-2125 and want to get a new sub for my car. I want a SINGLE jl w7 10", this is a 3 ohm sub, and this amplifier is a 4 ohm bridged amp. Will this amp handle the increased current? Will it heat up, protect?
Worth a try, or just get a new amp?

This is one of the few things about the W7 line that really annoys me.
You're almost locked into JL amps for those subs to get the right load and the right amount of power.
If you want a similar sub with a more useable load, look at the RE X.X.X. 10"
they are massive, actually better than a W7, and run around $250 each I believe.
each ten weighs about 55 lbs, so be ready for some weight lifting if ya go with the RE.

That you glasswolf i apreciate your help, what company was that sub again? Im not very experienced in this art, but is it any way possible to "cheat" the ohm load using for example some sort of a 1 ohm resister in parallel? to create the 4 ohm load? Probably wishful thinking, but im a novice in this. |

no. you can't use resistors like that.
no real way to cheat.
those subs are made by Resonant Engineering.
there aren't periods betweenn the X's but this site filters words like a Catholic Nun, so I can't string three X's together.
you get the idea for the model.
