Thread: Wiring 1 sub to 2-channel amp |

I need some help here. I recently took my 2 8-ohm subs out of my Tahoe where they were wired in parallel to a 500 watt amp. I just got a custom built box to put one of them in my new extended cab silverado, because i was told that, given the limited airspace under the seat, one 12 would sound better than 2. Anyways, since i am used to wiring 2 subs up, now that it comes down to it im not sure of the best way to wire only one sub to a 2-channel amp. i know its highly inefficient to be using an 8-ohm sub for this setup but at this point, i dont really want to spend much more money. Any suggestions here? Somebody tell me how stupid i am... |

Well actually svc 8 ohm subs will work perfectly with a 2 channel amp since you can bridge the subs and get full power out of the amp. this is how you will wire them.

Ok re read what you said and yea your gonna be out of luck. Take your 4 ohm load and take half of that and thats the amount of power you will be getting. So if your amp is 500 rms bridged at 4 ohms it will be 250 rms bridged at 8 ohms. All depending on how many watts rms your sub is then it may work.
