would it be a good idea to modify 4x6 dash speakers to 4 in comp or 51/4 comp in s10

Good idea would be don't use dash speakers... that is a terriable location for speakers. Do some custom work and put them in the doors for much better results. In the dash they have no enclosure so there will be no midbass at all.

I did it and so have countless others with S series trucks, it is a popular mod since dash speakers are crap.

There is also no depth to work with so you can't fit any bigger speakers in the s10 dash.

You pretty much have 2 options, make small boxes, mount them to the door, and cut the door panel around them which is what i did... not the best for looks but its functional.... or modify the sheet metal to mount the speaker in the door and then seal the door with sound deadener, more work but it looks nice and flush.

I did it the easier way...

sorry for the late reply m.s.

i would like to do it the way you did, but i have a project truck, soon to be in car shows and all that b.s. so im affraid im going to have to go with the option with more work.

do you know a link to a forum where someone has done this before? or could you give me more detailed steps? & materials needed.
