New RE XXX vs Old RE XXX (04-05)

The new XXX higher RMS and xmas and all that so i'm assuming they are louder. Just asking cause i'm getting a single 15" RE XXX and just wondering if the old one is SOO much better its worth buying a 5 year old subwoofer. So wat do ya guys think of the new RE XXX. are they louder. do they still sound good. Are they still far better than the w7 and other comparables. My best friend is putting a 12" L7 in his car and he's being so cocky about it (cause he has kickers and no one has ever heard of RE), i just wanna embarris him w/ mine. So basically folks new or old RE XXX in terms of loud, low, and clear |

How much do you want to spend on a sub? IMO the 12" L7 is probably the worst sub that kicker ever put out.. I like the L5 (12") better and that isn't saying much.. There are plenty of subs that will get louder and sound better with the proper install , power, and enclosure. also look into DC lvl3 DD2512 Treo ssi RD Alpha AQ hdc3 AP epic or revo many others. |

The old ones were very linear at high excursion, and made very good "SQL" subs (loud SQ subs) If you want something similar now, look at www.ficaraudio.com and check out the Q series subs. I use a single Fi Q18 in my car now, which replaced a pair of original RE XXX 12". I also went from an AP enclosure to straight sealed. |

I can only power 2000 watts so i can only get 1 sub. I want as loud as possible while sounding like an XXX should sound (good). Also feel free to add feedback about origional post too. |

IMO if its the 04/05 model, i would NEVER sell it... i wish i had one @ Evan Art, Jack Skellington is right.. there arent many drivers that compare to the 04/05 model XXX. try to find one in good shape. Whats your budget for the subwoofer(s)? |
