Which unit would you guys recommend? I've heard very good things about both, but I just can't decide. I like the Pioneer because the preamp voltage is 4 volts compared to only 2 volts in the Alpine, but my friend has the Alpine 9886 and it sounds really good. I have 2 12" Alpine Type Rs by the way.

I have both. Similar SQ (both very good) but the Pioneer have an integrated 7 band EQ among other sound enhancing features & price is much lower (if you care).

The Alpine has Imprint but you have to add a very expensive extra device plus setup (don't have Imprint myself).

the 9886 is good, but I think it is just not worth the extra $$$ let alone the 9887 (not even USB out of the box).

I understand the 9886 is 4v.
