Hi, I'm new to the forum, and this looks like a great place to get advice!

I recently purchased the following system for my 2000 4 runner:
head unit - avic N1
fronts - alpine SPX177A
rear - infinity kappa 52.5I
power amp - JL 300/4

The system sounds great! But I noticed that the bass just wasn't cutting it so I'm getting the JL stealthbox with an additional JL 250/1, and I'm wondering about how to set the crossovers.

The installers are telling me I should just use the HPF controller on the AVIC, running the sub out to the 250/1.

Should they also set the HPF filter on the 300/4 in addition the the HPF of th AVIC? Or does it not matter?

Plus theres the whole jumper things inside of those little alpine boxes that came with the speakers.

This whole crossover thing is confusing! Is there anything you guys can tell me to ask about or look for when I go to make the final payment? Any help appreciated!

high-pass for the 300/4, set to around 150Hz.
low-pass for the 250/1, set to about 80Hz.
both with 12-18dB/octave slopes if you have the option.
