Hi. I have the same problem... I replaced my battery because my civic wouldn't start, after replacing it I got in my car and started it.. a few seconds later i realized the stereo was/is asking for a code.. a code which I dont know. hi my 98 accord stereo comes up with the dredded code display. i have been to 2 honda dealers who have both given me the same unlock code. It doesnt work. I.ve assume the radio has been swopped and the code now doesnt match the car registration number.

I had same problem with radio code. I called Honda at 1-800-999-1009, gave them my VIN# and radio serial#. I had the code and radio playing within 5 minutes. (My local Honda dealer wanted $60 to get the code for me) |

yesterday i went to my car and i turned it on and the code thing was on so i put the car in II and i took the stereo out and disconnected all the wires and tried looking for the code. then my girlfriend turned to me and said... just disconnect all the wires and connect it back, i said well i already tried that... she said "wouldnt it be so cool if it worked all of a sudden!" and guess what!!! i reconnected the wires and it worked!!! no code needed!! gosh my gf is so lucky!!! lol ME too! |

Hello, is it possible to retrieve the unlock code from the "U" and "L" codes given by pressing "1 & 6" only?
I really don't want to tear anything up by removing the head unit.
I have a 2002 honda accord ex.

Ok here is what i did. I had to replace the light bulb in my clock, so i took it out and then i could also see down on top of the radio to get the serial number.
What i did then was i found a local honda dealership and a local car stereo installer. I called the dealership and said "Hello, this is Caleb with (whatever the name of the car stereo place is)" and told them "i have an 02 honda accord in my shop and we need the stereo unlock code" And the guy gave it to me.
The funny thing is after he gave me the number i noticed that those same numbers were written on the front of the owners manual, but weren't labled as the unlock code...just random numbers on a page.

You can get the serial number to the radio system by turning the car onto the "on" position, but so the engine isn't running. Press the 1 and 6 numbers at the same time, and while pressing them turn on the radio. It will give you 2 sets of 4 numbers. This 8 digit number is the serial number to the radio system. Hope this helps. |

I called my local Honda dealership with the serial number for my radio and they looked up the code for free.
You can also call 1-800-999-1009 with the serial number for your radio and your car VIN # and they will look up the code for free once you prove you are the owner of the car.
To find the serial number of your radio, turn your car onto the I or II position so the engine isn't running. Press the 1 and 6 numbers at the same time and turn on the radio while pressing these buttons. This will give you the serial number for your radio. |

I waited almost 2 hours for mechanics to try and figure it out. They wrote down the codes above. I only hope that they got that part right. The radio was working when I took it into their shop. The only reason I would go back there is to get money back from them. |
