What does one do with a HO alt if they buy a new vehicle. Are they just up the creek, is there a resale market for them. I'm on the verge of buying one but I may just hold off until I've settled into a different car next year.

Depends on if that alt will fit the new vehicle.

If not, you would have to luck up and find someone that is needing a HO alt for that vehicle to sell it to.

I sold my 300a excessive when i switched cars earlier this year. I lost quite a bit of money on it but there is a resale market.

I paid around 470 for it and sold it for 250shipped, but i used it for 2 years.
