Hey everyone, I'm driving an '08 Nissan Altima. I'm going to try to get 2 Alpine R's 10"s in the trunk, along with some Alpine SPR-17C for the front four speakers. To do this, I was thinking of buying these two amps: Speaker amplifier: Alpine PDX-4.150 http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=17194 Subwoofer Amplifier: JL Audio 1000/1v2 http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=18475 Now the question I have is, will my alternator be powerful enough to run both of these amps? If not, if I went to the 500W JL amplifier option instead of the 1000W, would my alternator be powerful enough then? |

I have no idea what size alt that car has, but they seem to be getting bigger and bigger. At the same time stock electrical systems are getting more and more demanding. w/the 500/1 odds are you'd be ok. It might even be ok with the 1000/1, but if you listen a lot at high volume there may be some voltage problems. Personally, I'd get it installed before I beat myself up about a problem that might not even exist. |

Bob, you may want to grab an upgraded battery. Also, you may want to look at a more efficient amp. I can get you a great deal on a RD or Sundown 1000D. More efficient, and you will pay nearly half for them as what you pay for that JL. www.rdaudio.net www.sundownaudio.com Shoot em an email if interested. Kevin lowhz01@yahoo.com |
