i have about 5 cubes to work with. i'd love to have 2 15's sealed in my trunk. i only want to run 3 or 4k for daily but i have an atomic 5k so if i need to i'll crank it up. i just like having head room. what 2 15's sealed can sound alright and handle 1500 or 2k each.

not against buying used..

In theory you would be wrong. Ported is said to add 3 db in theory over sealed, same as doubling cone area (two 15s is not double the cone area of two 12s)

Cant think of many for under 600. Maybe the used xxxs but those would be tough to find as well.

yes, i had one running in 1.4cubes before displacement and burped a 142.2dp on a dd m1 :P

in the proper size enclosure, two of them on the right power should be good for 147s

im debating doing 2 15's sealed or 2 12s ported....

as MS pointed out the ported is theoretically louder but sealed theoretically allows for more power plus the cone area...
im going for loudness. mothertruck sound quality.....

yeah i had the same problem i was trying to find a sub stage that would get me the most SPL with only 5 cubes to work with but with me i only had 1500 watts rms so i went with 4 10's they only need 1.25 cubic feet each so it worked perfect at 5 i just need to build my box and i'll let you guys know how they sound

1 TC sounds 5200 with 3cf and 5K on tap. IMHO if you can reach the same output sealed as you could ported I would go sealed, a lot more musical. Polo.

I am going to a sealed enclosure for the first time in a decade. I will let you guys know how it goes.

Currently have 3 15" alphas ported tuned to 35hz doing high 152's and am switching to 6 sonance 15" sealed in 6 seperate chambers 2.15 total for each.

Hoping to stay 152+ but get a flat response and that LOW-LOW bass.

If you are going sealed with 5k and 5 cubes you may want to try and fit more subs to get cone area.

i wanted to stay away from the single sub setup. polo, if i was going to go single sub again i'd be doing a 15 tc 5200 or 5400. one reason is motor cooling...

2 12s ported might be the better option...

ahh you still have it....well my 95 taurus gl has aprox. a 1 cubic foot sealed box with a single 12 sub with a low fs (20 hz) and it hits best in the low 40's but I get the most annoying noises from my back deck and my dome light and thats on 350 watts hitting 127. something db with the sub firing up....im not sure what would happen with two subs sealed because I havent tried my vehicle with two 12's but my seats dont fold down and my back deck flexes (deck noise I mentioned) with one 12 so im betting im loosing a decent amount of spl

Funny, you get young whipper snappers showing up with multiple subs getting dumped on by old men with a single and a whole lot a power... :-O Polo..

yeah one sub setups can work very well and from what I can tell you usually are best sticking with two subs tops as far as spl gains per subwoofer go in a general install anyway....im not done with my set up im just testing to see what works....im trying to focus on low frequency loud

my back deck jumps like someone is pounding it with a hammer over and over. literally 2 inches each way....

polo, ive always had single sub setups in the taurus so i wanted to try dual this time... i get what youre saying and if i find a deal on a 5200/5400 its all mine :-)

im sure it sounds tons worse then my back deck but for me its that bad that I literally cant stand the sound so im going to have to figure out how to get rid of it....I thought about removing the rear deck speakers but that wont get all the pressure in the cab that the back deck is holding back so ill have to try another approach....the dome light noise has got to go too
